Objective

To equip the Client with actionable market intelligence and strategic insight into the Installed Capacity Market of the NYISO. Luminary Energy will deliver forward-looking capacity price forecasts, track market design changes, and evaluate the regulatory and structural impacts of these changes on the Client’s assets, investment decisions, and risk exposure.

Scope of Services

NYISO Capacity Price Forecasting

• Develop and maintain forward capacity price forecasts (zonal or system-wide) for a 5–10 year horizon.

• Forecast inputs to include:

  • Load growth projections

  • Retirements and new entry capacity

  • Policy-driven resource changes (e.g., offshore wind, storage, DERs)

  • Capacity accreditation reforms

  • Interconnection queue dynamics

• Provide scenario analysis (e.g., policy delays, higher-than-expected renewable penetration, thermal retirements)
